HHS Mandate and Conscience Protection
By now, you’ve probably heard about the US Dept of Health and Human Services recent ruling that forces nearly all private health plans to include coverage for all FDA-approved prescription contraceptive drugs and devices, as well as surgical sterilization, which violates the moral teaching of the Church. The Concscience Protection in this ruling is so narrow that it fails to cover the vast majority of faith-based organizations, including Catholic hospitals, universities, and service organizations that help millions every year. This is a very serious issue, one that all Catholics need to know about and understand.
